Boyer has submitted a planning and listed building application to Ipswich Borough Council for new residential development to fund the construction and replacement of the school’s boarding accommodation.
The proposal seeks the conversion of the existing boarding accommodation within a listed building and new high quality residential development to fund a new bespoke boarding accommodation for the school.
The site yields a number of complexities and challenges Boyer and the consultant team are navigating though in terms of viability testing, parkland setting, heritage considerations and trees and landscaping matters. In addition to the significant benefits to the operation of the school, the development will yield additional localised benefits in terms of a new pedestrian link through the site linking surrounding residential areas to shops and schools, additional landscaping and the opening up of the site’s frontage to improve the vista of the listed building in the streetscene.
This is an exciting and interesting scheme which has involved significant discussion with the local planning authority and other statutory consultees to secure the right development.
