Plantation Wharf, Battersea
Client: Hermes Property Unit Trust and Ipsus Developments
LPA: London Borough of Wandsworth
The application was submitted on behalf of our client Hermes Property Unit Trust and Ipsus Developments. The proposals involve demolition of the existing buildings (with the exception of Trade Tower) and redevelopment of part of the Plantation Wharf site in Battersea. The scheme will provide a mixed use development comprising a range of commercial uses and 127 new homes, contained within four new buildings of 5-16 storeys including a 6 storey extension to Trade Tower. The scheme also includes the creation of a publicly accessible square at the base of Trade Tower and improved connections to the River Thames.
This is a significant planning permission for a site identified within Wandsworth’s Lombard Road/York Road Riverside Focal Point Supplementary Planning Document. The Committee in resolving to approve the scheme concluded that the site is allocated for mixed use development and located within Lombard Road/York Road Riverside Focal Point an area where tall buildings can be justified and a mix of uses supported. The proposals will deliver significant public benefits through the provision of new homes, the creation of a high quality new public square, improved connectivity through the site to the River Thames, introducing an active frontage with commercial uses and the retention and enhancement of employment floorspace, all of which was welcomed by Members.
Boyer continues to promote development within this part of Battersea, and the London of Borough of Wandsworth, and look forward to a continued successful working relationship with Hermes Property Unit Trust and Ipsus Developments.
