Boyer successfully secured resolution to grant planning permission in the Green Belt against Officers recommendation of refusal; for the comprehensive redevelopment of a mixed-use nursery, to a new 3000 sqm Garden Centre and Café, with play and recreational facilities for the local community.
The scheme also includes a carbon capture woodland, allotments and rationalised customer car park with EV charging points.
After several years of working with the hare Hatch Sheeplands, the approved scheme now provides a long term and sustainable future for the business, following refusal for a Garden Centre on the site in 2011. The development also comes 5-years post enforcement prosecution and injunctive proceedings, where the Councils prosecution was stayed as an abuse of process and upheld in the Court of Appeal.
The scheme received a substantial level public support, with the Council resolving that there were ‘Very Special Circumstances’ to support the application. Boyer successfully navigated the complex site history, enforcement and planning matters, to ensure the future of the site and much-loved local business was secured.
