The Corniche, Albert Embankment
Client: St James Group
LPA: London Borough of Lambeth
Boyer began working with St James Group to assist in their acquisition of the Hampton House site in 2012. After reviewing the implications of existing and implemented planning permissions for the redevelopment of the site, the acquisition was a success.
Boyer was retained from this point to provide planning consultancy services regarding the revised proposals to improve the site.
The proposals for the site involved the erection of three buildings, each ranging in height; 15/16 storeys and 23/ 27 storeys, and housing 253 residential apartments, 85 of which are extra care, affordable units. This scheme also incorporates 1200sqm of B1 office accommodation, 700sqm of retail and/or restaurant space, together with additional residential facilities and landscaped public and private amenity space.
After extensive consultation with the local planning authority, Greater London Authority, English Heritage, local residents and amenity groups, this mixed use development was welcomed by Lambeth's Planning Applications Committee Members, who voted unanimously in favour of the scheme and complemented the quality of the design. As part of the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area, Hampton house will contribute to meeting the aspirations of the Mayor of London and the local planning authority to regenerate the Albert Embankment.
Development on the site will commence in Spring 2013.
