Bedford House, Wandsworth
Client: Ipsus Developments Limited
LPA: Wandworth Borough Council
Ipsus Developments Limited appointed Boyer to advise on the potential acquisition of the former Council building, Bedford House, situated on Balham High Road near the town centre. Following a competitive tender process, Ipsus successfully agreed a contract to acquire the site and Boyer, working with Harper Downie Architects, developed proposals for 52 residential apartments within an eight storey building. The proposals provide a mix of private and affordable housing and contain a high quality landscaped garden offering communal amenity space for residents.
Boyer led discussions and negotiations with the Local Planning Authority, Wandsworth Council. The negotiation and then signing of a Planning Performance Agreement provided certainty for our client regarding timescales, which was important to the land contract agreed. Following public consultation, particularly with the neighbouring free school, and negotiation with the Council’s officers, the proposals were recommended for approval and planning permission agreed by the Council’s Committee.
The success of this scheme is another example of the strong working relationship Boyer have with Wandsworth Council and, also, Ipsus Developments, for whom we delivered three planning permissions during 2014.
