Planning Awards 2021
We are delighted that two projects which Boyer’s London office were planning consultants have been successful in two of the placemaking categories in the Planning Awards 2021 which were announced last night.
Oval Village by our client Berkeley Homes (Central London) has won the award for Best Mixed Use Development. The scheme won as it will transform the local area, taking a derelict site which turned its back on the community into a place for everyone. The landmark architecture of the restored gas holder will provide an identity for this part of Oval and create a place where people can live, work, shop and play, with the benefits of this new community extending far beyond the physical fabric. The +180% net biodiversity gain will re-green the harsh landscape and provide a more environmentally friendly way of life with thousands of cycle spaces and car free streets.
White City Living by St James Group Ltd was highly commended in the category for the Best Housing Scheme (over 500 homes). White City Living aims to address the needs for residents living at the development and the broader community of which they are a part of. An ambitious approach to sustainability is recognised throughout the development. The quality of architecture has been designed to a high environmental standard and a key focus is making homes more energy efficient.
Both these schemes are excellent examples of regeneration in London and it is great that they are receiving the recognition they deserve. Both projects have been a pleasure to work on with fantastic teams.
